Yes — under the NCC (National Construction Code), any deck with a floor level more than 1m above the ground below requires a compliant balustrade. The balustrade must be at least 1m high (measured from the deck surface) and must not be climbable by young children — meaning horizontal rails that could act as foot holds are not compliant. We include a compliant balustrade in all elevated deck quotes where required. Balustrade options include stainless steel wire, toughened glass panels, timber balusters and powder-coated aluminium — all scoped and priced at the quote stage.
Yes — sloped blocks are one of our specialties across the Hunter Valley. We design elevated deck frames that achieve a level deck surface regardless of how much the ground falls away. The steeper the slope, the taller the posts required on the downhill side — which means deeper footings and larger bearer sizing.
