The Pool Building Process, Step by Step
What happens at each stage of a Central Coast pool build, and the order it all runs in.
Step 1: Design & Site Assessment
It starts at your block. We check the fall of the land, the soil, the access and where the services run, then design the shape, size, depth and position of the pool to suit the yard and the home. We also set out where the equipment, lighting and heating will sit before anything is marked on the ground. You come away with a clear design and a fixed written quote.
Step 2: Approvals
A pool cannot be dug until it is approved. Most run either as complying development through a private certifier or as a development application through Central Coast Council, depending on the block, the setbacks and any overlays. We confirm the correct pathway, lodge the paperwork and manage the barrier and fencing compliance so this stage is off your plate.
Step 3: Excavation & Shell
With the approval in hand, the dig begins. For a concrete pool we excavate the shape, fix the steel reinforcing cage and spray the structural concrete, then let it cure. For a fibreglass pool the hole is prepared and the shell is set and levelled in. This is the stage that gives the pool its strength and its ability to sit into the ground, and it is not one to rush.
Step 4: Plumbing, Electrical & Equipment
Now the pool comes to life. The pipework is run and the pump, filtration, salt or mineral system, LED lighting and any heating are sized, installed and wired. This is all licensed electrical work, and because Belvedere holds both the building and electrical licences, our own team handles it on the same contract, safely and to code, without waiting on an outside contractor to slot into the program.
Step 5: Finishes & Handover
Last comes the look and the sign-off. We apply the interior finish, set the coping and waterline tiles, and coordinate the paving and surrounds. Then we fill the pool, commission the equipment, balance the water and hand over with the certificates you need for insurance, fencing and resale. From here the pool is ready to swim in, checked and signed off by one licensed team.

The Same Five Steps, Different Pace

A fibreglass pool has its shell manufactured off site and craned in, so the excavation and shell stage is quicker once access is sorted. A concrete pool is formed on site with steel and shotcrete, so that stage takes longer because the structure has to cure before finishing can begin.
